Places You'll Visit

Jackson Reef

Jackson Reef is the northernmost of the four reefs in the Strait of Tiran, off Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. Its northern edge holds the wreck of the Cypriot freighter Lara, which ran aground in the early 1980s; sections remain visible above water. The reef's drop-offs are known for sightings of whitetip, grey reef, and scalloped hammerhead sharks.

Gordon Reef

Gordon Reef is the southernmost reef in the Strait of Tiran, near Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, with a roughly 900-meter-long shallow plateau whose top sits barely half a meter below the surface before dropping off to depths of 25 to 50 meters. Its northern edge holds the wreck of the freighter Loullia, which ran aground in 1981.

Thomas Reef

Thomas Reef is one of four reef systems in the Straits of Tiran, at the mouth of the Gulf of Aqaba off Sharm el-Sheikh. The smallest of the four, it is known for the 'Three Thomas Arches,' coral-covered formations beginning around 35 meters depth, and for strong currents that make it a dive reserved for experienced divers.
