The Great Pyramid of Khufu at Giza, Egypt, was built around 2560 BCE as the tomb of the Fourth Dynasty pharaoh Khufu, the largest of the three Giza pyramids at an original height of about 146.6 meters. It is the sole survivor of the ancient Seven Wonders and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Memphis and its Necropolis.
The Egyptian Museum sits on Tahrir Square in Cairo and opened to the public on 15 November 1902, in a neoclassical building designed by French architect Marcel Dourgnon. Its collection exceeds 170,000 artifacts spanning the Predynastic period to the Greco-Roman era, including many objects from Tutankhamun's tomb, discovered by Howard Carter in 1922.
